"I guess I'll move into the spare room," John heard himself say, a little caustic, but also automatic. Because of course he'd do that for Bobby. Of course he would. And he kind of hated himself for that, that there was still a part of him who loved Bobby so much that he'd abase himself with lies like that. That he'd keep who they were, what they were, a dirty little secret, if it made Bobby happy. That he didn't deserve anything more in life than to be someone's second thought.
And well, the spare bedroom was still there. And perhaps it was more appropriate for him to move there than Bobby.
